On your arrival at the Jorge Chavez International airport, we'll have private transprt waiting to deliver you to your hotel in the enchanting Barranco Dsitrict of Lima. Arrival time may be scattered, for those already settled in this evening, we'll meet up for a delicious welcome dinner and full briefing about the days ahead.
Bordado Ayacuchano workshop with TPP Talleres >> Museo Amano >> Hotel Barranco
Good Morning early birds! Our wake up call is around 07:30am with a scrumptious hotel breakfast before heading out for a morning spent learning "bordado ayacuchano" (Ayacucho embroidery) with the ladies of the TPP Talleres. This techinique is native the the Ayacucho region and features vibrant, raised embroidery designs that blend colonial and modern themes. A light lunch and refreshments will keep us energised throughout the workshop.
In the afternoon, we'll slow down with a visit the Internationallly remonwed Amano Museum in nearby Miraflores. A truly mesmerising experience observing pre- Colombien ceramics and artefacts with more than 600 textile works on display and state-of-the-art exhibition features, this is an unforgettable experience of of Peruvian textile heritage.
Dinner together this evening before returning to our hotel for a good night's sleep.
Lima City Tour >> Transfer Arequipa
Another early wake up call for breakfast and check out from our Barranco hotel.
This morning we'll be visiting the acclaimed Casa Aliaga in the centre of Lima. A gift to a Spanish captain in 1535, the Casa Aliaga has stayed in the care of the same family for 17 generations and is one of the oldest dwellings in the Americas. We'll savour the rich colonial history of the "City of Kings" while wandering the lavishly furnished rooms and corridors.
Before departing for the airport to catch our afternoon flight from Lima to Arequipa, lets drop in at the nearby Mauri Hotel where the famous Pisco sour was invented! A moment to relax, sip and enjoy the views of the bustling plaza beyond the hotel windows.
Upon arrival to Arequipa, we'll transfer to our hotel, settle in and share a light dinner with lots of hot tea to help acclimate to the higher altitude, (approx. 7,500ft / 2286m).
Tour of Inca TOPS factory >> Sip and Stitch with Amano
After a restful night, waking up to views of snow-capped volcanoes in the distance, this morning we look forward to our tour of the Inca TOPS factory. With over 50 years of experience working with tops and yarn, Inca TOPS is the leading fibre industry in Peru. They also heavily invest in social programs, clean energy and genetic research. An eye opening and inspirational visit awaits.
Regroup with lunch at a local favourite, maybe try a traditional dish of Arequipa and head back to the hotel to freshen up. This evening we are sipping and stitiching with the Amano Yarns team, the hand knitting yarn line from Inca TOPS. Enjoy appetisers and drinks with the group, share your WIPs, and experience a bit of nightlife in the centre of the historic White City.
Transfer Arequipa - Cusco >> Transfer Sacred Valley, Huaran
It's been a brief but action-packed visit to the "White City" of Arequipa. This morning after a tasty breakfast and checking out of our hotel, we'll once more head to the airport for a mid-morning flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, private transport will be waiting to take us into the picturesque Sacred Valley and our hotel int he quaint village of Huaran, approx 1 hour drive.
Settle in and spend the evening relaxing, exploring the beautiful hotel garden and enjoying a light meal with the group.
Full Day Natural Dye workshop, Pichinku >> Hotel Huaran
Waking up nestled between glorious mountain peaks known as "Apus" (Andean Gods), is a highlight of our Peru trip, along with learning about the tradition of natural dyeing with Pichinku. Just a short drive from our accomodation to Calca, we will roll up our sleeves with the Pichinku team, harvest fresh dye plants, and dye snuggly soft Peruvian yarn in a rainbow of botanical colours. And best yet, you'll take your dyed yarn with you to keep! This is a full day workshop, breaking for a mouth-watering picnic lunch, catered in the sunshine and afternoon breeze of the Pichinku Orchard.
We'll return to our hotel around 5pm to freshen up, rest a while and dine with the group before tucking in for the night.
Half day weaving workshop Pichinku >> Transfer to Cusco
This morning we'll venture out once more to Calca for our second workshop with the Pichinku ladies. Using the vibrant wool that we dyed yesterday, today we'll learn drop spindle spinning and backstrap loom weaving, crafts that have been practised in Peru for thousands of years!
Grab yourself a patch of grass in the tranquil orchard and, with the help of master artesans, we'll each transform our naturally dyed yarn into a beautiful keepsake bracelet.
After the workshop we'll refuel with a satisfying home-cooked meal and refreshing beverages. In the aftrenoon, we are travelling back to Cusco, climbing to a higher altitude of 11,000ft / 3400m. It's a free evening for dinner, choose to experience some of the city's nightlife or snuggle in early.

Today is a free day in Cusco. It's your moment to discover the wonders this amazing city has to offer. Find a cafe on one of the many historic plazas, relax and watch the world go by, explore the vibrant markets in a spot of souvenir shopping or simply walk around marvelling at the architecture and hidden gems in each little barrio of the city. Please ask our guide for sight-seeing and restaurant recommendations.
This evening is our goodbye dinner - undoubtedly bittersweet! Relax and reminisce over the last few days of exploration and discovery of textiles, culture and the natural beauty of Peru!
