woodcut Workshop

Woodcut is a relief printing technique in printmaking. An artist carves an image into the surface of a block of wood with gouges, leaving the printing parts level on the surface while removing the non-printing parts. The surface is covered with ink by rolling over the surface with an ink-covered roller (brayer), leaving ink upon the flat surface but not in the non-printing areas.

In this workshop, we will teach you basic techniques using MDF instead of wood. We will give you a brief explanation of techniques and references and use of materials and tools. We will help you develop your drawing or sketch, transfer it to the MDF and explain how to devastate.

You will also have a brief explanation of the inking we will use and continue with a printing test, corrections of color or carving and final printing.
